Hyperlinkomatic Future
We built HLOM because we needed it. We're making it available to the
world on the off-chance that there are other people out there who also need
it. What we're not sure about is how we're going to make it earn its keep.
Once we've got a better idea of how the HLOM server deals with heavier loads,
and how much bandwidth it's going to eat, we'll know how much HLOM will cost us to run.
Once we know that we'll be looking at ways to make it pay for itself. The
vague and nebulous plan at the moment is to offer a free version that is
supported by advertising (we're thinking text-ad style here, doubleclick need
not apply), and a paid pro version, without advertising and including the
full set of features.
Details, like how much it would cost and which features will be missing from
the free version, are still be worked out. We would appreciate any feedback from
users:
- Would you pay for HLOM?
- How much?
- Which features would be essential to the free version?
- Which features would tempt you to pay for the pro version?
We'd like to hear your thoughts: feedback@hyperlinkomatic.com
Beta Testers
We promise to do everything we can to keep any data that beta testers put into HLOM
available to them in the future. We'd like to assure everyone that they can actually use HLOM
for managing real data during the beta; we have no interest in holding any users' data
to ransom.
Hopefully, all testers will be moved onto the free version HLOM at the end of the
beta. And, if it's viable, we'll come up with a preferential deal on the pro version.
If, in the very worst case scenario, we simply cannot afford to host HLOM on a large
scale we'll make all users' data available for them download in suitably accessible
formats.
