The Settings Menu

hyperlinkomatic settings menu This menu allows access to all those user-definable setting and preferences in HLOM.

Categories

This is where you edit and manage your Categories. See Managing Categories for more on using HLOM's categories.

Account

This is where you can change the email address HLOM uses to stay in touch with you, and change your password.

You cannot change the Username you used to set up your HLOM account. We need one piece of unique and unchanging information, and your username is it. You can set up another account under a different name, but not change the name of an existing account...

Display

This allows you to decide how long you'd like your result lists to appear, and how you'd like HLOM to display new windows.

Toolbar

This is where you'll find the Grabber bookmarklet-thingies that you need on your toolbar.

You'll also find another couple of toolbar gadgets here; Search opens HLOM's Advanced Search into a neat new window, while HLOM Home opens up HLOM on, you've guessed it, your personal HLOM Home Page.

Dailies takes you to your HLOM home page; where a handy single button can open all of your daily links for you in one easy click.

Import

This allows you to extract links from files or web pages. You can upload anything to import, and HLOM will endeavour to extract useful URLs from it. If you upload a ASCII copy of Cryptomnicon you probably won't find that many links. However, if you upload a Favorites List from Explorer, or a Bookmarks List form Netscape/Mozilla HLOM will import all of those links for you.

Handily you can also point HLOM at any page on a website and have it strip out all the links it finds.

Yes, that does mean you can do a search in Google and get HLOM to import the results that it returns. We're probably going to run a competition for most original usage of this feature...

We're still testing/building Importing. For the time being we're working on the assumption that if you don't know how to find those Favorite/Bookmark files you probably shouldn't be playing with it just yet.

User-friendly directions for uploading will be forthcoming just as soon as we've bomb-proofed the process...
